Specialist treatment for children and young people

Children and young people face a variety of challenges and emotions as they learn and grow. At Aspris Wellbeing Centre, our aim is to improve wellbeing and allow our young patients to return to the happy and healthy childhood they deserve.

We offer a variety of therapies for children at Aspris Wellbeing Centre. We will work with you to achieve the best results for your child. You will be included in any decisions we make, as we take our responsibilities towards your family seriously. We also exercise the utmost patient confidentiality at all times, within our discreet and private service.

We provide a range of services to support your child, including occupational therapy (OT) and speech and language therapy (SLT) led by a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified specialists.

Occupational therapy is a specialist treatment to help children and young people whose ability to perform meaningful activities of daily life is hampered due to physical, sensory or cognitive problems. Our therapy services are designed to help the children we support to live more independent and active lives. Some common disorders that our Occupational Therapists work with includes:

  • Autistic spectrum disorders (ASD)
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Developmental co-ordination disorder (dyspraxia)
  • Developmental delays
  • Down syndrome
  • Dysgraphia
  • Sensory processing disorder

  • Speech and language therapy

Speech and language therapy (SLT) is specially designed to support children with speech, language and communication. Whatever they’re experiencing, we can help them to feel more confident and capable in expressing themselves. This may be around social communication, oral and written language, articulation or fluency disorders, or reading and writing disorders. This approach uses a combination of language, articulation and fluency activities to help children interact with others. We also use approaches for more advanced cognitive abilities, as well as oral motor and literary activities.

Whether the difficulties your child experiences are isolate or part of another condition, our experts can provide targeted treatment based on their own needs. These are the most common educational challenges in children aged from four to 11, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of and we’ve helped many others in your position.

  • Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy supports children who have physical challenges, sensory or cognitive issues. When conditions prevent them from playing, learning and developing, our paediatric occupational therapists will help in areas such as motor skills development, social communication and coordination.

Our specialists at Aspris Wellbeing Centre will assess your child’s unique needs in order to support their own development. We take a combined approach of implementing at-home learning programmes, collaborating with schools and referring to other professionals, alongside the treatment within our own state-of-the-art facilities.

  • Psychological therapy

During psychological therapy sessions, children will have one-to-one time with their primary counsellor. They will be supported to understand what they are feeling within a reassuring, safe space. We will help children to explore their emotions and they can talk through any challenges they’re facing at their own pace. Our experienced therapists are trained to help them feel as comfortable as possible, with no pressure for them to share anything until they’re ready.

These therapy sessions are usually available in one-hour or 90-minute sessions.

  • Education and learning support

At Aspris, we work with children and young people in the UAE and the UK to provide educational support. We understand that the conventional school methods don’t always work for children who are neurodivergent.

For children with conditions such as an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) or ADHD, we are able to provide world-class treatment to ensure children reach their full potential.

This includes bespoke treatment plans, tailored to your child’s needs, which can be adapted to different settings, such as their school.

We are also proud to have close links with the ‘Outstanding’ rated Al Karamah School and Training Institute in Abu Dhabi. The first facilities of their kind providing specialist education services for children and young people with autism in the UAE.
