Professional experience
As well as her role as medical director of Aspris Wellbeing Centre Dubai, Dr Rasha Bassim is a consultant psychiatrist with more than 20 years’ psychiatric experience, during which she has treated patients of all ages. Dr Bassim’s extensive career started in Egypt, where she worked for 10 years, followed by four years in Kuwait; she has been practising in the UAE since 2013.
As a Professor of neuropsychiatry at Ain Shams University, Dr Bassim is also a published researcher in her field, having had over 15 scientific publications in national, regional and international journals and conferences. During this time, she was awarded the ‘Okasha Award’ bestowed upon the young researcher of the year.
Dr Bassim has achieved a host of specialist academic and medical qualifications from a broad range of prestigious institutions in Egypt and the UAE. She also trained at the Institute of Psychiatry in Egypt, a World Health Organisation (WHO) collaborated centre, for mental health training and research. She also has EMDR training from UK Aid. As of 2014, Dr Bassim is also a qualified transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapist.
