Professional Experience

Dr Saman Khan is a well-respected and highly qualified Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 20 years’ experience working in the UK in both public and private practice.

Saman has extensive experience of working in Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services treating patients presenting with a broad range of psychopathology. She is also a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), UK.

Following the completion of her medical degree at University of Glasgow, Saman went on to train in various NHS Health Trusts in Scotland and England as a general Psychiatrist. She completed her specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry, starting in the prestigious St Mary’s training programme affiliated with Imperial College London, and finishing at the West of Scotland Training Scheme affiliated with University of Glasgow.  

Saman has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Lanarkshire, Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. She has also been involved in a number of mental health organisations as an Executive board member, including British Pakistani Psychiatrists Association and All Physicians and Surgeons of Scotland.

Trained in a wide range of assessment and treatment modalities, Saman and has a holistic approach as she believes problems do not always exist in isolation. Saman keeps up-to-date with the latest research and follows local and national guidelines, as well as in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She has published papers on ‘Girls Growing Up: A Feasibility and Acceptability Study to Explore the Antecedents of Anorexia Nervosa in Girls Aged 7 to 17’ in the Journal of Child and Adolescent Behaviour and ‘BMJ Endgames: Weight loss in an adolescent girl’ published in the BMJ. Saman actively contributes to clinical governance.
